There are more than 100 crore mobile phone holders in the country. Many people have 2-3 numbers
The change will allow telecom companies to create 254.4 crore extra numbers for mobile services



In the age of smartphones even today landline phones are found in the homes of many people and people in our country are accustomed to talking on landline phones for hours. If you also use a landline phone at home, the new rule is going to apply from January 1. According to the new rule, before inserting a mobile phone from a landline, zero must be placed in front of the mobile number.

The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has accepted the recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI). It has since been decided to implement the new rule.

Recommendation Approved TRAI has recommended to put zero number before mobile number on 29th May 2020 for calls to mobile numbers from landline. This will enable telecom companies to create more numbers. The Department of Telecom said in a circular issued on November 20 that it had accepted TRAI's recommendations to change the way landline dials to mobile. This will allow mobile and landline services to generate sufficient numbers.

254 crore extra numbers to be made
This change in the way mobile numbers are dialed will allow telecom companies to create 254.4 crore extra numbers for mobile services. It will help meet future needs. There are more than 100 crore mobile phone holders in the country. Many people have 2-3 numbers. This arrangement is being made keeping in view the growing demand in the coming time.

This literally means that the mobile number will be 10 digits only. But it would have been 11 digits with zero. This feature will allow customers to get more numbers.
