Faroe Islands:11 km below the sea 613 feet. Long tunnel

The world's first under sea roundabout tunnel
1200 crore was spent
6000 vehicles will pass through the tunnel daily
58 minutes will be saved
613 feet below sea level
A toll of Rs 900 has to be paid

The picture is of the world's first roundabout tunnel network. The tunnel connecting Stremoy and Istroy on the Faroe Islands of Denmark is 11 km long. The journey between the two used to take 1 hour 14 minutes but now this distance can be covered in just 16 minutes. The tunnel will be open to the public from December 19.

Trains will be able to enter the tunnel from here.

Normally the tunnel has two ends i.e. it is not possible to turn back from the middle but a circle has been made between these tunnels which can be turned back half way. The tunnel is built about 613 feet below sea level. The Marmaraya tunnel was previously built 180 feet below sea level in Turkey's Bosphorus Bay. 13.6 km This long tunnel connects Asia and Europe on both sides of Istanbul.
