The epicenter was reported at around 7.30 pm on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir, with the epicenter 63 km north-east of Jammu Katra and 5 km below the ground. On the Richter scale
The magnitude of the quake was 5.1. No damage has been reported so far.
Shocks have been felt in Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar and Poonch. People in Kishtwar and Udhampur districts were evacuated to open ground outside their homes during the quake.
This is the second earthquake in
Jammu and Kashmir this year. The second tremor has been felt in Jammu and Kashmir this year. Earlier on January 4, a magnitude 3.5 earthquake shook Bandipora. There were 4 tremors in December last year.
On December 16, three magnitude 4.4 and 3.7 earthquakes were recorded. A magnitude 3.7 tremor was also felt on December 21.
