Talk to you soon and keep up the good content.'Bamboo India' startup quits to reduce plastic consumption, turnover reaches 3.8 crore in 3 years

Yogesh says- 200 million toothbrushes are used every month in India, I want to convert this plastic waste into bamboo toothbrush.

Yogesh Shinde, a resident of Pune, was an associate vice president at an IT-based multinational company. In his 14-year career, he spent 5 years posting in all countries, including London-Germany. One day he thought what is he doing for his country? After which he quit his job and decided to do business in his own country.

He started Bamboo India in 2016, today his company makes all the bamboo products that help reduce the use of plastic. Last year, our turnover in the financial year was Rs 3.8 crore.

We saved 13.5 lakh kilograms of plastic waste till December 13 with the help of our bamboo product. We have a team of 2500 farmers from across the country and more than 200 support staff. In a way, this is our turnover. '

In his 14-year career, he never got a job in an Indian company, which
he regretted. I studied in a government school, after which I graduated from Pune University and the journey of an IT engineer has remained the same. In his 14-year career, Yogesh has never worked for an Indian company. It
's a regret for his country that he can not do anything. When he returned to India in 2013, he started doing research on all subjects.

Also got information about Zero Waste Farming, Medicinal Plant Cultivation. But someone was working in these sectors. After Yogesh started doing research and study on bamboo, he realized that India is the second largest country in bamboo production. Bamboo is not a tree grass and it is the fastest growing grass in the world. After which it was realized that despite being the second largest country in bamboo production, we are exporting only four per cent. This gave Yogesh the idea of bamboo for plastic. And they decided that they would make a product out of bamboo that could replace plastic. Gradually they prepared a gifting item, a bamboo speaker, a desk organizer.

The toothbrush is the second largest plastic polluted material in the world after polythene
Yogesh says, ‘I knew that in order to change people’s plastic habit and reach the maximum, they have to come up with an alternative to the items used in daily life. After which we started working on a bamboo toothbrush. In the meantime, it was realized that the Polythene Fuchsia toothbrush is the largest plastic polluted material in the world and its recycling is not easy.

In India alone, 200 million toothbrushes are used every month. That's when I realized that there is nothing better than this. After which we did research in this direction and launched a bamboo toothbrush in the market, 'says Yogesh.' We started working on the theme 'Bamboo for Plastics'. Our tagline was 'To Make Innovative Products, To Replace Plastic Products'. In April 2016 when we named the company, While planning to bring it to the market, we thought that the country got independence on 15th August 1947 and now we have to give freedom to the people from plastic. So we chose August 15, 2016. So on September 18, International Bamboo Day, we also do a lot of awareness programs. '

Dia Mirza, Juhi Chawla, Shraddha Kapoor and Randeep Hooda ... these are the names that people use by ordering bamboo products made by their company.

Celebrities like Dia Mirza, Juhi Chawla, Shraddha Kapoor and Randeep Hooda use bamboo products.
They say, 'Plastic is not a bad thing, it is a blessing to us, but it is like a sugar. It will give you energy if you take the right amount but taking too much can lead to diabetes. We should only use plastic where there is no other option. '

According to Yogesh, Dia Mirza, Juhi Chawla, Shraddha Kapoor and Randeep Hooda ... these are the names who use the bamboo products made by their company by ordering and also giving to their friends.

"I still have my parents in my family, both retired teachers, now enjoying their retirement life," says Yogesh.  I have two children. Puksha is in college while her daughter is in school. My daughter works as a model for the company.  Because we have to do everything on a low budget, sometimes we present the children of the employees, sometimes our children as models. '

His company currently has 32 direct employees and more than 100 people work on contract for us

He started the business by buying a bamboo speaker making machine for Rs 8,500 . But the family trusted me, we decided to work for a year and go back to our jobs if nothing went well. We started a business by mortgaging our house if we could not get a loan from a bank for our work.

When I started the business, the first machine to make bamboo speakers cost eight and a half thousand rupees. After that, as the income came, the money was invested in the business, today our company has a net worth of Rs 2.5 crore. At present our company has 32 direct employees and more than 100 people work on contract for us.

According to Yogesh, there are four stages in the bamboo industry. The first stage is bamboo nursery and plantation, in which the farmer cultivates the nursery or bamboo in his field. The second stage is the pre-processing unit, in which raw material is made available as per the demand of the market.

Yogesh says the present government has removed bamboo from the tree category and placed it in the grass category, which no longer requires any kind of approval for its cutting and transportation. This is very beneficial for the bamboo industry. But before you get into the bamboo industry you have to decide from these four stages what you want to do. It is very difficult to do all four at once.
