Power supply disrupted in Mumbai:Many areas including Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Panvel have no lights due to grid failure, Tata's power supply failed; Local trains stopped




The grid failure has disrupted power supply in many areas including the entire Mumbai Region (MMRDA) i.e. Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Panvel, citing a lack of Tata power supply as one of the major reasons.  A spokesperson of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BSET) has confirmed that power supply to the city has been disrupted due to a fault in the grid.




A statement from BEST Electricity said that the power supply was cut off due to grid failure at Tata Kaduna. Sorry for the inconvenience. However, BEST has not said when the power will be available. Bandra, Colaba, Mahim areas have no lights since 10 am.

According to the information received, the 400 KV line has malfunctioned. Due to which power supply has been disrupted in MIDC, Palghar, Dahanu area.


CPRO, the chief public relations officer of the Central Railway, said the closure of the grid has also affected suburban train service. Western Railway's local train services between Churchgate and Vasai have also been affected.

In the midst of all this, Energy Minister Nitish Raut said that work is underway to resume power supply in Mumbai and surrounding areas. Electricity will come in an hour. The National Stock Exchange (NSI) said in a tweet that there was normal work going on.

Mumbai currently consumes about 3000-3200 MW of electricity per day. However, day to night consumption ratios vary. According to a report, Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited supplies electricity to 27 lakh consumers in the Mumbai suburbs. Which has about 21 lakh domestic customers. At the same time, Tata Power supplies electricity to about 7 lakh customers in Mumbai.
